Chiropractic ineffective for kids with headaches

German researchers performed a very rigorous (multicenter, prospective, randomized, placebo-controlled, and blinded) trial of cervical spine manipulation and mobilization in 52 children and adolescents with headaches due to neck problems.

After two months of initial observation they were given two months of treatment. The days with headache, total duration of headache, days with school absence due to headache, the amount of pain medicine consumed, and the intensity of headache remained unchanged when the active treatment was compared to placebo. This study was published in the latest issue of the journal Headache.
